Integrated LED Stair, Riser, and Post Cap Lighting

Deck lighting is most useful when it's planned and wired during construction, before framing and decking conceal the runs. We install low-voltage LED systems throughout Metro Detroit decks — stair riser lights, tread-mounted step lights, post cap fixtures, under-rail strips, and recessed deck board lights — with wiring concealed in the structure and transformers mounted in accessible but hidden locations. Retrofit lighting added after the fact typically requires visible surface conduit.

The safety layer comes first: lights at every stair riser and level change for safe navigation after dark. Then we add ambient lighting for atmosphere — under-rail strips that wash the deck surface with warm light, post cap fixtures for overhead fill, and recessed lights in bench faces and planter walls. Circuits connect to dimmers, timers, or smart controls depending on what the homeowner wants.

Oakland County summers give you a lot of warm evenings worth spending outside after dark. Low-voltage LED systems draw minimal power, last for years without bulb replacement, and the color temperature options let you dial in a warm, residential feel rather than a commercial brightness. We lay out the lighting zones during the design phase so every circuit serves a clear purpose.
