Fiber Cement Siding Installation
Wood siding in Southeast Michigan rots from the bottom up. The freeze-thaw cycle works at every joint and nail head, moisture gets in, and repainting over soft substrate only delays the inevitable. Fiber cement doesn't have that problem — it won't rot, won't warp through Michigan winters, and won't give insects anything to eat. We install the full James Hardie lineup: HardiePlank lap, HardieShingle, HardiePanel vertical, and board-and-batten, in factory-primed and ColorPlus pre-finished options.
Installation details matter with fiber cement. We blind-nail per manufacturer spec, leave proper end-joint gapping, integrate self-adhering flashing at every window and door opening, and maintain a drainage plane behind the cladding so any water that gets in has a path out. ColorPlus factory finish carries a 15-year warranty against peeling and fading.
We've installed Hardie siding on homes across Oakland County — Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Troy, Rochester, and everywhere in between. Every job starts the same way: strip the old cladding, inspect the sheathing, address rot or damage, install the housewrap correctly, then install the new system from the ground up.
