Architectural Design Coordination for Seamless Integration

An addition that doesn't match the existing house reads as wrong from the street and affects resale value. Matching the architecture means more than choosing similar siding — it means matching roof pitch, eave depth, fascia width, window head height, siding reveal, and how the new roofline meets the existing one. We document those dimensions before design begins and communicate them to the architect or designer producing the permit drawings.

For additions with complex roof geometry — hip-to-gable transitions, dormers, or matching masonry veneer — we bring in a licensed architect to produce drawings that properly extend the home's architectural character. The architect coordinates with our structural engineer so the architectural and structural drawing sets don't conflict at plan review, which is one of the most common causes of permit delays.

Oakland County homeowners building additions often aren't thinking about resale when they start planning. But mismatched exterior proportions and an obvious roof tie-in are the details appraisers and buyers notice first. Getting architectural integration right during the design phase costs far less than trying to correct it after the framing is up.
