Most stock cabinets are built with stapled butt joints — they look fine at first but start to rack and sag after a few years of daily use. We build with traditional dovetail joinery using white oak, cherry, maple, or walnut. The joints are mechanical, not just glued, which is why they hold up for decades without loosening or shifting under the weight of dishes, pots, and daily opening and closing.
Our process starts with precise field measurements and a design conversation about wood species, grain patterns, door profiles, and interior layout. Cabinet boxes are built with solid-wood or plywood sides and plywood backs, with full-extension drawer slides rated for heavy loads. We use catalyzed lacquer or hand-rubbed oil finishes that resist moisture and scratching — not the thin spray coatings you get on factory production lines.
For Oakland County homeowners, the practical difference shows up over time. Custom dovetail cabinetry doesn't need to be tightened, shimmed, or replaced after 10 years. We stand behind every cabinet we build because we control the process from lumber selection through final installation — no handoffs to a separate cabinet company.
